Amidst the grandeur and business of Butuan City, in its outskirts lie the dire situations of the impoverished rural farmers. But one woman farmer proved that poverty is never a hindrance to live a successful and fulfilling life.

This is a story of a community of Informal Settlers who gathered as one group, strived hard and in the long run owned a land of their own and through the generosity of DISOP; they were able to build disaster resilient houses. Then again the best part about this short story is that in the end they have realized that they weren´t just building houses.

The Dinagat Islands are a group of islands constituting a province in the Caraga region. It is one of the newest provinces in the country. Attractive to tourists.The primary sources of income for locals are fishing and farming. The entire island group was declared as a mineral reservation.

One day, an out of school youngster enrolled himself in a non-formal course about organic farming in his community. Through trainings and cross visits, he learned the different technologies as follows ..

Once the given livestock gives birth, the farmers have to pass it on to another family. In that way members are empowered and are able to build their own sustainable livelihood.
