Child marriage in Senegal

In my country, Senegal, especially in the region of Tambacounda, the phenomenon of child marriage still persists.

After some investigation and experience, I know clearly what the problem is and where it comes from. I can cite the traditions, customs, poverty and laws.

The fight against Malaria in Tambacounda, Senegal.

Hello, with Aliou Diallo from the district plateau of the municipality of Tambacounda. i am member of the "La Voie" association.

I have followed a training course on malaria at the Tambacounda provincial council. I hereby thank them for giving me this opportunity.

Malaria is a contagious disease caused by mosquitoes. As an activity we brought among other things. home visits, door-to-door, and we raised awareness.

Solar energy, a source of light

My name is Aichetou Babou, and I live in a region of Senegal called Tambacounda. I’m going to tell you what I’ve learnt about how to produce clean and affordable energy.

In the area where I live, we have strong sunlight all year round, yet the power of the sun is not being used to change how we generate electricity. Many people are forced to manage without electricity simply because they can’t afford it.

Fighting against climate change in Senegal

My name is Coumba TOUNKARA, and I live in Tambacounda, a region of Senegal.

In my region, we are facing serious problems related to climate change, and deforestation is the main cause. We cook with firewood and we need timber to make furniture.

We frequently suffer from drought and the heat was intense in 2019, so we said prayers for rain in the mosques.

Illegal Emigration

I am a teacher in Tambacounda.

My former student decided to go on an adventure with the help of his big brother.

My first aid training with the Red Cross in Senegal

My name is Dione Diobé, and I live in the Tambacounda region of Senegal.

I have done a first aid training course with the Red Cross in Tambacounda. The goal of the course was to be able to help an injured person.

The course really helped to change our understanding of how to look after a person who is suffering. We learnt how to stop bleeding, how to use a wheeled stretcher, to perform CPR, to treat burns and so on.

People without birth certificate

At the registry office in Tambacounda, where I work, we are faced with people who do not have birth records because they have not been not registered. Amongst them, we can find students. In addition, some couples do not register ttheir marriages at the city hall.

Giving value to waste by composting

My story is set in Senegal, more specifically in Tambacounda:

The SINVAD-project, an integrated system for cleaning and recovering household waste, is being implemented by the city, in cooperation with the city of Sint-Niklaas.

How can household waste become a resource?
I'm inspired to do this work at SINVAD to help provide solutions to the problems of household waste and illegal dumping in my municipality.

Irregular Emigration

Tambacounda is one of the regions of Senegal most affected by emigration. This is due to its geographical location and its border position.

In my region, the youth are more and more exposed to this issue that affects our entire population.

The main causes of emigration are the increasingly difficult living conditions and the search for work.
